Scale your automation programme with confidence.
Many NHS automation programmes fail to deliver their promised returns because they lack a cohesive strategy. Our automation consultancy specialists provide the expert roadmap, governance, and stakeholder engagement required to turn isolated IT experiments into system-wide productivity engines.
Speak to a strategic consultant
We navigate the complexity for you.
Implementing intelligent automation is rarely just a technology challenge. It is a people and process challenge. With NHS organisations required to deliver a 4% productivity improvement in 2025/26 while reducing their cost base by 1%, automation projects cannot afford to stall. Without proper governance, buy-in from clinical leads, and a clear pipeline of high-ROI processes, automation efforts fail. We know this because we have lived it.
Building the Digital Productivity Platform required navigating governance approvals, onboarding complexity, and a mid-programme technology change across multiple NHS organisations simultaneously. Those lessons are now embedded in how we work.
As substantive NHS colleagues, our consultants work side-by-side with your leadership team to build a robust centralised automation hub, align your digital strategy with your clinical goals, and secure rapid, sustainable adoption.
What our consultancy covers
Every engagement is tailored to your organisation’s maturity, scale, and goals. These are the four core deliverables our consultants provide across a typical automation strategy engagement.
Strategic roadmapping and opportunity assessments
Evaluating your current pathways to identify high-ROI automation candidates and build a prioritised pipeline that aligns with your goals.
Operating model and governance framework design
Establishing a robust centralised automation hub with strict clinical and data governance built in, ensuring your programme is sustainable and audit-ready from day one.
Stakeholder engagement and change management
Working shoulder-to-shoulder with your staff to secure board-level and clinical buy-in, removing the organisational friction that stalls most automation programmes.
Business case development and ROI tracking
Providing the data-driven analysis and PMO documentation required to secure funding, satisfy internal governance, and continuously measure financial impact over time.
Building and scaling a pan-NHS automation programme across North London.
North London Partners Shared Services (NLPSS) delivers NHS corporate services across seven trusts. We worked in partnership with their team from the earliest RPA deployments through to a fully operationalised managed service, providing the consultancy, governance design, and programme leadership that enabled the programme to scale.
Building and scaling a pan-NHS automation programme across North London
NLPSS’s automation programme began as a collection of individual RPA deployments, each solving a problem in isolation, but without the governance or operating model required to scale across seven organisations. It quickly became clear that automation alone would not be sufficient. True, sustained impact required combining automation with process standardisation, governance tooling, and a managed service model that could operate reliably at NHS-wide scale.
We embedded a full-service consultancy model alongside delivery: designing an end-to-end lifecycle, establishing a Change Advisory Board for programme governance, building continuous improvement loops, and managing performance against agreed service level agreements and KPIs. Throughout, the programme was co-developed with NLPSS operational teams, ensuring adoption was driven by usability rather than just technical capability, and that the gains were durable.
