Best Practice
A core aim of TPHC’s CYP waiting times work has been to understand the current wait times in London and to capture and share best practice examples to support services to reduce waiting lists.
The team captured examples of practice across the treatment pathway from referral through to discharge. We also reviewed emerging evidence of the benefits of ‘waiting well’ measures – including support and interventions whilst waiting that can help to prevent cases worsening and people needing further interventions. Understanding what constitutes good practice for addressing waiting times and sharing existing examples of effective approaches is key for reducing wait times for young people and families in London

Children and Young People’s Mental Health – Waiting Times – Evidence review, learning and insights
In London, CYP are waiting extended periods of time for mental health services. We have seen significant health inequalities impacting waiting times, and we know long waiting times have an impact on outcomes and experiences of young people. The document below provides a summary of our work to date to baseline and more fully understand how waiting times are affecting young people across London and beyond, and what can be done to improve waiting times. TPHC undertook an evidence review, stakeholder interviews and a data diagnostic which helped us to capture key findings for improving waiting times and develop a set of recommendations for service providers.
