Welcome
Welcome to edition 8 of Insight.
Over the next few weeks, we are hosting and taking part in several engaging events designed to bring together NHS experts and partners.
These sessions not only showcase best practice and thought leadership in mental health, automation and productivity, but also provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas and collaborate on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
I am also proud to share that we have been shortlisted for two prestigious HSJ awards. This recognition is a testament to the commitment, expertise, and passion of our team and our clients, and the impact we have on the system. We are honoured to be acknowledged alongside such strong peers in the field.
I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events and do reach out to me if you want to talk about any of the topics covered.

Reducing out of area placements in mental health services virtual event

TPHC is hosting a virtual event on sharing learning and approaches to reducing out of area placements in mental health services. Out of area placements can provide additional challenges for people with mental health issues and are often detrimental to their treatment. This event is intended to provide a space for shared learning and collaboration across the mental health system, and to inspire action to improve patient care and bring people closer to home.
This event takes place on Wednesday 17 September at 12-2.30pm, on MS Teams and a recording will be made available to all who register.
Case studies will be presented by colleagues from:
- Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust
- Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust
- Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
- Transformation Partners in Health and Care

Sharing lessons learned for a digitally productive future at the NHS Hospitals Interoperability Conference

The NHS has entered a new era − one that demands productivity, transformation and smarter investment. Understanding early failures has led to invaluable learning about how to make this scalable and sustainable in an ever complex and volatile health and care system.
In 2018 Lord Darzi predicted that automation could save the NHS up to £12.5 billion a year in frontline staff time. And as the 10 Year Health Plan sets the NHS a clear target to deliver a 2% year-on-year productivity gain, the case for digital productivity has never been stronger, as we discussed in this recent blog.
Join us at the NHS Hospitals Interoperability Summit, hosted by Convenzis, on 24 September for our session: ‘Applying lessons learned for a digitally productive future’. As keynote speakers, James Davies, Head of Digital Productivity, and Jo Bowers, Associate Director (Digital, Data, Analytics and Digital Productivity), will discuss:
the key ingredients to making your automations scalable and successful, based on 8 years of automating processes in the NHS, and
the future of digital productivity in the NHS and social care.
NLPSS and TPHC team members presenting at NHS Workforce Supply Conference

Also taking place on September 24 2025 is the NHS Workforce Supply Conference, hosted by NHS Employers, which will explore the future of NHS workforce planning, policy and practice.
James Davies, Head of Digital Productivity at TPHC and Jilly Jamieson, Head of Client Services and Global Process Owner, Recruitment, at North London Partners Shared Services (NLPSS), join a panel discussion with colleagues from NHS Trusts discussing how innovative digital solutions have shown a positive impact on recruitment and retention.

Presenting our Appropriate Adult Service options appraisal for London

Shirley O’Keeffe, Associate Director (Mental Health) at TPHC will be presenting our work to undertake an options appraisal of commissioning approaches for a London-wide Appropriate Adult service. This included extensive engagement with The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), the Metropolitan Police Service, NHS England, local authorities, and the National Appropriate Adult Network.
Our recommended model has been taken forward to launch the first-ever London wide Appropriate Adult scheme. This ensures that vulnerable adults across London have quick access to an independent appropriate adult to support them, and safeguard their rights, entitlements and welfare, when in contact with the police.
This event takes place on October 16 and 17 in Nottingham. Registration and event information can be found here.
Transformation Partners in Health and Care shortlisted for the 2025 HSJ awards

TPHC is thrilled to announce that our work has been shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious 2025 HSJ awards.
Our communications and engagement team has been shortlisted for the “NHS Communications Initiative of the Year” award, while colleagues working in partnership with North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) and Whittington Health, have been shortlisted for the “Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People” award.
This year’s awards attracted more than 1,250 entries from across the health sector, demonstrating the impressive scale of talent, commitment, and impact across the NHS and wider healthcare landscape. Of these, just 246 – less than 20% – made it through to the shortlist.
