Headstart is a programme funded by the Big Lottery and based in six local authority areas in England. Newham is the only setting within London.
Headstart is an early intervention programme, based within schools and aimed at addressing children and young people aged 10-16. It operates in 50 primary and 14 secondary schools.
There are a wide range of early intervention offers within schools and further details and resources can be accessed on the Headstart Newham website.
The Big Lottery Fund has commissioned an expert team led by the Evidence Based Practice Unit, a collaboration between University College London and the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. The partners in this learning team include Common Room, The University of Manchester, the Child Outcomes Research Consortium and London School of Economics and Political Science.
A key part of the programme is an annual survey of wellbeing across all participating schools.
