The Primary Care Cancer and Education Group (PCCEG) is chaired by the TCST and has members from cancer alliances, Sustainable Transformation Partnerships, charity partners, Health Education England and patient representatives.
PCCEG acts as an implementation group to develop approaches and resources for primary and community care (education, providers and commissioners) to embed best practice regarding cancer.
The group’s work covers developments for primary and community care within:
- prevention and early diagnosis – population awareness, improving access to primary care, reducing variation in cancer outcomes and improving access to diagnostics and treatment;
- personalised care for cancer – cancer care reviews, cancer as a long term condition including consequences of treatment and primary care led/shared care stratified follow up pathways;
- workforce development needs – training needs analyses, education and training.
The PCCEG will not replicate the work conducted by the Early Diagnosis Advisory Group (EDAG) or the Personalised Care for Cancer Partnership Board (PC4C PB) and their respective subgroups. Rather, it will provide an interface to ensure synergy across the education and development agendas for both the EDAG and the PC4C PB.
