Armed Forces family engagement
Organisation: NHS England

We designed and delivered a patient and public engagement programme to help NHS England understand Armed Forces (AF) families’ health needs and how best to support them.
This included producing a questionnaire and engagement documents, promoting the engagement through a social media campaign, and designing and facilitating virtual events and interviews. In addition, we analysed 1,344 qualitative and quantitative responses and produced a feedback report and recommendations.
The impact of our work
As a result of our robust engagement and detailed thematic and sentiment analysis, NHS England allocated funding to support networks for AF families across England.
“The summary report is fantastic. The Armed Forces Senior meeting agreed that we will set up regional / local Armed Forces families support networks, which is great.”

Review of Sexual Assault Referral Centre provision
We undertook an options appraisal of future site operating models for London’s sexual assault referral centre (SARC) and delivered a feasibility study to test our recommendations with partners and service users. These recommendations were validated, supported, approved, and are now being implemented.

Exploring using movement in talking therapies for better mental health care
Sport England commissioned TPHC to conduct research exploring how physical activity could be better used within NHS Talking Therapies to improve mental health outcomes. This research report has been taken forward by Sport England, with plans developing to implement the key recommendations.
