Cancer Maps is an interactive tool designed to make the guidelines more accessible to healthcare professionals during consultations and summarise the guidance in three maps. This allows healthcare professionals to quickly reference NG12 guidelines in just a few clicks, acting as a reassuring referral guide and a helpful safety-netting tool in discussion with patients.
The Cancer Maps were developed by Drs Ben and Patrick Noble and was rolled out in 2017, following a successful pilot evaluation. Developed with iMindMap software, the Cancer Maps tool continues to support GPs to swiftly recognise and refer suspected cancer patients. The maps were updated in 2021 to improve their functionality and visual appearance and the maps and training support are hosted on the Gateway C website. Alongside this, Gateway C provide a number of virtual training modules for GPs and practice staff on a number of different cancer and related primary care topics or guidance changes.
